Cleanup Corps
COPA AV mobilizes youth and residents to remove illegal dumping, beautify neighborhoods, and restore local pride. Our Volunteer Cleanup Corps transforms environmental challenges into opportunities for growth, leadership, and community connection.
The AV Deserves Better
Every week, new piles of trash, broken furniture, and construction debris show up across the Antelope Valley. These photos and videos aren’t stock images — they’re real scenes from our neighborhoods, streets, and open desert.
Illegal dumping & public waste:
Hurts our kids, families, and seniors who live, walk, and play nearby
Damages our desert environment and local wildlife
Drags down property values and community pride
Sends a message that no one cares — when in reality, we do

Illegal Dumping Abatement & Community Cleanup
Illegal dumping is one of the most expensive and persistent quality-of-life challenges in the Antelope Valley. It degrades public land, threatens environmental health, and drains limited municipal resources.
Our nonprofit operates a region-wide illegal dumping abatement program designed to deliver measurable results: fewer dumping sites, lower cleanup cost burdens, cleaner corridors, and stronger community stewardship.
We combine direct cleanup operations, data-driven prevention, and public education to address illegal dumping at scale.

Weekend Bulk Clean Up
Our monthly weekend cleanup events target large-scale illegal dumping that residents and volunteers cannot address alone.
Removal of illegally dumped waste, construction debris, tires, and bulky items
Deployment of roll-off containers and coordinated hauling support
Volunteer-powered operations with city and county collaboration
Scheduled cleanups in known and emerging dumping zones
These high-impact events restore entire corridors and neighborhoods in a single day while reducing long-term cleanup costs for local governments.

Hotspot Identification & Mapping
Prevention starts with knowing where dumping is happening and where it’s about to happen.
Community-based scouting and reporting of illegal dumping sites
Mapping and documentation of repeat hotspots
Data collection to support city and county enforcement and planning
Early detection to reduce cleanup costs and environmental damage
By identifying patterns early, we help governments move from reactive cleanup to proactive prevention.
Litter Removal & Prevention
Not all dumping requires heavy equipment — consistent light-duty cleanup prevents small problems from becoming major sites.
Ongoing litter removal during weekdays
Focus on high-visibility corridors and public spaces
Schools, gateways, desert roads, and commercial corridors
Rapid response to newly reported dumping activity
This program keeps key areas clean, discourages repeat dumping, and reinforces community pride.
Education & Prevention
Lasting change requires education, access, and accountability.
Public education on how and where to report illegal dumping
Clear guidance on legal disposal options and resources
Community outreach on the risks of hiring illegal haulers
“Don’t Hire Illegal Haulers” awareness campaigns
By reducing misinformation and closing disposal gaps, we address dumping at its source.

We will also aim to:
Reduce the number of repeat illegal dumping sites
Lower cleanup and enforcement costs for municipalities
Improved safety, access, and environmental health
Increased community reporting and engagement
